St. John's NL
Canada
Nominated to the Hall as a team, these Canadian ABR®s pioneered buyer representation in eastern Newfoundland. Until September of this year (2004), they were two of just three REBAC members in the entire province (population 500,000). Ms. Brophy and Mr. Dilny are continually lobbying internally to change that pattern and are hopeful of bringing ABR® training programs to Newfoundland in the not-too-distant future.
Both Ms. Brophy and Ms. Dilny promote themselves extensively as Accredited Buyer Representatives. They have been interviewed on radio and television regarding their activities, primarily as representatives for second home buyers from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany.
Seeking to further expand their professionalism, Ms. Brophy and Mr. Dilny have each completed the e-PRO program and have received the Relocation Specialist designation from the Canadian Employee Relocation Council. They are currently pursuing designation as Certified International Property Specialists. (CIPS).
A REALTOR® since 1991, Ms. Brophy is a past director of the St. John’s Real Estate Board where she chaired the Education Committee and the Membership Committee and served as a member of the Multiple Listing Service and Computer Committee. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Mr. Dilny entered the real estate profession in 1986. He holds degrees from St. Francis Xaxier University (B.A.), Memorial University of Newfoundland (B. Ed.) and Dalhousie University (M.A.). He has been a teacher at high school, college and university levels. Currently he writes a real estate newspaper column where he continually emphasizes the importance of buyer representation. A downhill skier, he was once a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol.
