Al Mansell

In retrospect, the negotiation of REBAC’s acquisition for NAR must seem as if a brief practice run for Al Mansell. Since then, he has engaged in many longer — and perhaps, more controversial — deliberations; first, from 1994 onward when he served as a member of the Utah State Senate, then as President of the Senate beginning in 2000. He resigned from the Senate in July of this year in order to devote more time to his numerous other duties and interests.

Right at the top of those “other interests” is the National Association of REALTORS®. A member since 1969, Mr. Mansell has held a wide range of leadership roles. In 1983, he was President of the Salt Lake Board of REALTORS®, which named him its 1987 REALTOR® of the Year. From there, it was on to work with the Utah Association of REALTORS ®, where he was selected the state’s REALTOR® of the Year” in 1985, and elected its President in 1990.

The National Association of REALTORS® has been the beneficiary of Mr. Mansell’s many talents for decades. Among the offices and assignments he held with distinction are: Board of Directors for 16 years; 1992 Regional Vice President for six Western and Mountain Area States; 1998 Chairman of the Advisory and Strategic Planning Committees; 2001 Vice President and Liaison to Committees; 2003 First Vice President; 2004 President-Elect; and 2005 President.

All the while, Mr. Mansell has remained active in the industry. Currently, he is CEO of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, headquartered in Midvale, Utah. In addition to his duties there, Mr. Mansell is an active member of his community, raising funds for Salt Lake Community College and chairing the Utah Sports Commission, which brings professional and amateur sporting events to the state. He’s also a trustee of Intermountain Health Care, the largest provider in the state.
