Edmund Gil Woods, Jr. is a third generation REALTOR® from Holyoke, Massachusetts, where he is owner and President of the Edmund G. Woods Company. In 2005, he sold the residential segment of the business to GMAC Real Estate. He served as President of the National Association of REALTORS® in 1995. He has been a member of NAR’s Board of Directors since 1984.

Prior to his election as NAR president, Mr. Woods had an impressive record of service to the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®. He was its President in 1984 and has served on its Board of Directors since 1981. His current posts on the Headquarters Study Committee and the Milton H. Shaw Award Committee are the latest in a lengthy list of state association activities.

Nationally, Mr. Woods was New England Regional Vice President for NAR prior to his presidency. Additionally, he has been a member and/or chaired a variety of NAR committees, including: Executive, Strategic Planning, Legislative, Political Action, and the State Leadership Forum. He holds the CRB, CRS and GRI designations and is a former dean of the GRI program in his home state.

Mr. Woods’ community activities have been extensive. He has served on the Holyoke Board of Appeals, the Massachusetts Center for Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Governor’s Economic Development Advisory Committee, and has been President of the Holyoke Library and Museum. Banker and Tradesman, New England’s regional real estate and banking journal, has recognized him as one of five industry Role Models and one of a select group of leaders “Making a Difference in New England”.
