RE/MAX INTERNATIONAL was thinking far ahead in the early 1990s when it was contacted by REBAC, well before its sale to the National Association of REALTORSŪ. At the time, then-current owner North American Consulting Group, searching for ways to expand membership, had turned to franchise organizations and proprietary real estate schools to train and certify ABRŪs in a highly professional manner.
RE/MAX responded promptly and positively to REBAC, agreeing to conduct a whirlwind campaign, offering the ABRŪ Designation course to its multitude of brokers and associates. In just an eight-week period, RE/MAX real estate professionals, Paul Sutherland and Curtis Hall, (ABRŪ and REBAC Hall of Fame member) and RE/MAX general counsel John Linton helped REBAC deliver courses in sixteen key market areas throughout the country. They trained 2,500 REBAC members, the vast majority of whom went on to earn the ABRŪ designation.
Building on the momentum created by the on-site seminars, RE/MAX again partnered with REBAC in 1994 to format ABRŪ training for the RE/MAX Satellite Network (RSN), and has been making the Designation course available on its private television network ever since. Over to 4,500 RE/MAX agents have taken the ABRŪ Designation course through RSN, with close to 500 "attending" the course in just one airing. As REBAC expanded its educational scope to include the ABRM Designation course and its growing curriculum of elective courses, RE/MAX has promptly added these offerings to its broadcast schedule. At its annual international convention, RE/MAX also co-sponsors at least one REBAC course. In recognition of all his support, RE/MAX co-founder and chairman Dave Liniger was given REBAC' s Person of the Year award in 1994, making him a Hall of Fame member. RE/MAX co- founder and vice chairman Gail Liniger is a longtime member of the REBAC Advisory Board. Being named REBACs Course Provider of the Year is acknowledgment of the dedication to buyer representation of all RE/MAX associates.
