While searching for a home after my husband was transferred to the Jefferson City Missouri area, our Realtor observed personality traits that suggested I would become a top producing Realtor. I jumped at the offer to join her company and learn the business. I started my real estate career in 1976 in Jefferson City, Missouri. I dedicated a lot of time learning the business and earning the proper credentials to build a reputation as a hard working Realtor. When the Accredited Buyer Representative designation was announced, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to learn from the BEST to represent Buyers. I had the desire to represent Buyers to the best of my ability. Quality of Service is essential to retaining past Buyers as Future Sellers. The biggest challenge in working with buyers relocation to a new area is to make them feel that you have their best interest at heart. Understanding their doubts and fears, Listening to their desires and become the “go to person” for information whether it be schools, personal or financial. Most of all ….finding the perfect home for them and their family.
Being in the Real Estate business for over 40 years has made Lyla Stark almost a household name. Personal promotion is very important whether you are new in the business or a long time servant of the people. In years past buyers were willing to accept property in its present condition. They were excited about painting a bedroom or adding new carpet of their choice. Thus relieving the Seller of major changes before a house went on the market. Today’s Buyers want a turnkey house. They expect the house to be in move-in condition. Buyers today also want the house to be inspected to be sure everything is in good working condition. In previous years there were no inspections except maybe a pest inspection on a Government Insured Loan. Buyers today want the confidence of being represented by an ABR®. Someone that will look out for their best interest in the transaction.
Several years ago, I learned the power of positive thinking. When I made the shift and really worked and planned for success….it happened. The power of positive thinking is tremendous. It changed my whole life. My personal quote is “Think of something that would be wonderful if it were only possible – then set out to make it possible” -- Armand Hammer
The key elements of success: Personal Promotion, Goal Setting, Developing a Business Plan and working the plan, internet presence, lots of hard work and the support of a loving family. Although I love my profession – when I return home at the end of the day to my family and ranch – I know that this is truly the greatest blessing and the brightest side of my life!
